Cooling System
- Water pump 1 in the engine ensures forced circulation of the coolant.
- The pressure resulting from the warming of the cooling system is regulated by a valve in
radiator cap 2. Heat expansion causes excess coolant to flow into compensating tank 3. When the temperature falls, this surplus coolant is sucked back into the cooling system. This ensures that operating the vehicle at the specified coolant temperature will not result in a risk of malfunctions.
The coolant is cooled by the air stream and a radiator fan 4, which is controlled by a thermo-switch.
The lower the speed, the less the cooling effect. Dirty cooling fans also reduce the cooling effect.
Checking the antifreeze and coolant level
Warning
Danger of scalding During motorcycle operation, the coolant gets very hot and is under pressure.
- Do not open the radiator, the radiator hoses or other cooling system components if the engine or the cooling system are at oper- ating temperature.
- Allow the cooling system and the engine to cool down before you open the radiator, the radiator hoses or other components of the cooling system.
- In the event of scalding, rinse the area affected immediately with lukewarm water.

Danger of poisoning Coolant is toxic and a health hazard.
- Keep coolant out of the reach of children.
- Do not allow coolant to come into contact with the skin, the eyes and clothing.
- Consult a doctor immediately if coolant is swallowed.
- Rinse the affected area immediately with plenty of water in the event of contact with the skin.
- Rinse eyes thoroughly with water and consult a doctor immediately if coolant gets into the eyes.
- Change clothing if coolant spills onto your clothing.
Condition
The engine is cold.
- Stand the motorcycle upright on a horizontal surface.
- Remove cap 1 of the compensating tank.
- Check the antifreeze in the coolant.
- Correct the antifreeze in the coolant.
- Check the coolant level in the compensating tank.
- Correct coolant level.
- Mount the cap of the compensating tank.
- Remove radiator cap 2.
- Check the antifreeze in the coolant.
- Correct the antifreeze in the coolant.
- Check the coolant level in the radiator.

> 0.20 l
– Fill/bleed the cooling system.
– Mount the radiator cap.

Preparatory work
- Remove the front spoiler
Main work
- Position the motorcycle upright.
- Place a suitable container under the engine.
- Remove screw 1.
- Remove the radiator cap.
- Completely drain the coolant.
- Mount and tighten screw 1 with a new seal ring.

Main work
- Remove radiator cap 1
- Loosen bleeder screw 2
Guideline.
- Pour in coolant until it emerges without bubbles at the bleeder screw, and then mount and tighten the bleeder screw immediately.
- Rest the vehicle on the side stand.
Danger
Danger of poisoning Exhaust gases are toxic and inhaling them may result in unconsciousness and death.
- Always make sure there is sufficient ventilation when running the engine.
- Use an effective exhaust extraction system when starting or running the engine in an enclosed space
- Stop the engine and allow it to cool down.
- When the engine is cool, check the coolant level in the radiator and, if necessary, add coolant.
- Remove cap 3 of the compensating tank and top up the coolant level to the upper marking.
- Mount the cap of the compensating tank.
Finishing work
– Fit the front spoiler.
